early reader 1925

Finding and selling old children’s textbooks is a lot of fun for me since I am a retired teacher and librarian. I think the most popular of textbooks are the early readers. I wish I had a Dick and Jane book to take a photo of! These are the most popular and can sell for up to 50.00. They might not say Dick and Jane on the cover but they use the names in the text and were published by Scott Foresman and Company. A Dick and Jane flashcard set recently sold for 430.00!

“History Sings” vintage textbook

Most old textbooks sell for under 10.00. If you have one from the 1800s, it might sell for more but it still needs to be in good to very good condition. Any book that is falling apart at the seams is not considered valuable unless you have something really special! “History Sings” is dated 1940 and is in very good condition. It is also very interesting!

Sometimes it is a good idea to sell books in “lots”. I am selling both of these American history books together because they are similar and both have dates in the 1930s. Dates are important, especially for history books, because the perspective is different. These would have been written before WW II.

Math and science books are interesting to the math and science student or teacher. This one is from 1937 and I plan on listing it at 9.99. I pick up most of my vintage books at local auctions but have also found them at yard sales and thrift stores. I recently found 3 of them at Goodwill for 25 cents each!
