I love the look of this purse! I am seriously considering a collection of this style of purse. It has the look of needlepoint but I think it is a tapestry fabric because I can’t actually see the needlepoint in it. It is beautiful though with the rose pattern and it is also a great size! It’s like a carpetbag that stands alone when opened up. The shoulder strap can be removed. I have this purse listed at 49.99 in my store at everythingvintagesteph.com. I think that is the price it is worth but I also have added a “make an offer” button to this one.

vintage straw woven purse

This purse is probably from the 1970s. I remember having this style and liked it a lot! They open like a wide mouth fish and stand alone. Also nice to carry. I have this one listed at 29.99 in my eBay store. The worth is dependent on the condition and quality. The best ones use leather and brass trim. This one has a cute butterfly for a clasp!

vintage clutch purses

Clutch purses are great too. They are very popular to use as an evening bag for a wedding or similar event. I just sold one this weekend at a flea market. The customer said she was looking for a black clutch purse with a bow for a wedding and I had just the thing she came for! These do not have a manufacturer name so they are a little less expensive at about 10-15$ a piece. A designer name would increase the value.

Mad Men style vintage purse 1950s

Mad Men style from the 1950s is very popular right now! This purse fits the style and is from the 1950s. I have it listed at 25.00 with a “make an offer” option. It would be worth more if it were leather but I think it is faux leather. It has nice brass trim and is clean inside with no tears. Great condition always adds to the value.

metallic gold vintage purse

Here’s a fun purse for anyone! The fabric is metallic gold and the clasp is a flower with little rhinestones in it. It is listed at 19.00 with a best offer option. I don’t have any Whiting and Davis purses at this time but that is a really great name for vintage purses!

You can see more close up pictures and descriptions of all the purses at everythingvintagesteph.com as long as they last! Thanks for stopping by!

This is pretty much what about half of my “booth” looked like at the Renninger’s antique extravaganza this weekend. I always have an eclectic collection of items! Everything from quilts to rugs, to sewing notions to farm equipment! From this photo, I sold the quilt rack (14.00), but none of the rugs or baskets around it. I sold 5 of the 7 old photos/prints that you see parts of. I sold about 5 of the old books showing up in the corner. They were priced from 3-9$.

vintage doll house

I’m glad I took a photo of this before it sold. It was the cutest doll house with lots of extra pieces like a dog house, a barn and even an outhouse! I priced it at 60.00 and sold it for 45.00.

Snoopy glasses

This photo shows quite a variety of items. I didn’t sell any of these things though! Snoopy glasses, wooden candlesticks, tiki toothpick holder, or pillsbury napkin holder. I did sell pillsbury salt and pepper shakers before I took the photo (5.00). Someone commented on the ugly dog with his tongue sticking out but he didn’t sell! I’ll probably list most of these items on eBay.

vintage purses and trivets

I sold about half of the vintage purses that I took. I had them priced low at 5.00-10.00 each. they were all in very good condition and most of them were bought by one vendor who was going to resell them in her antique store. Cast iron trivets are usually a hit and I did sell about 3 of them at 5.00 each. The other items in the photo did not sell.

vintage doll, vintage books

Vintage children’s books were popular. I sold the Golden books for 2.00 each. I had a really neat children’s Shakespeare book from the 1800′s that I sold for 9.00. Someone got a great bargain! The top of the photo shows an Indian doll that I had priced at 8.00 and a kewpie plastic doll that I had priced at 5.00. I still have those. They are not real valuable, just cute and vintage!

It was unusually cold the 3 days that I was there and the wind was a factor too. We still had a great sale though and look forward to doing it again the last weekend of June. Should be a little warmer then!

This piece was the easiest. The top used to have an eagle logo on it but it was mostly worn off. The black paint was mostly worn off too. I just sanded it (electric sander!) and then spray painted it partialy so it still looks vintage with some of the old paint and wood showing through. Took about 5 minutes!

miniature dry sink

This is my favorite piece. I might end up keeping it! It is a dry sink — child’s size. It is pine which is a softer wood and is more prone to scratches but they are very easy to remove. I sanded the scratches by hand and then stained them. I did the top of the sink with the electric sander. The inside part was hard because of the corners. It would have been nice to have one of those angle sanders. I think it will need another coat of stain because the rest of it is pretty shiny. A shiny sealer would be nice too.

a prayer bench?

I really didn’t do anything to this piece except for a coat of murphy’s oil soap. There are a few dark marks on the top but I wanted to keep the original finish. It has an area of deep scratch marks on the front but those are the kind that give it character. I think it is some sort of prayer bench or writing table because it slants.

I wish I had a before photo of this table! It was really bad with a lot of water marks. No one would buy it in that condition. All it took was a few minutes of electric sanding and then I wiped on a coat of stain with a soft cloth. Easy!
Have you ever seen a mug at a yard sale or thrift store for 25 or 50 cents? What? All the time? Yea, me too. I finally decided that this might be a good niche for eBay. Especially after reading the home run guide from Danni Ackerman. I didn’t think mugs would sell very well, especially since the “higher than a pound postage” would be a consideration. I hope I am wrong! So far, I have listed about 10 mugs and sold 2 (Garfield and the Far Side). Danni states that mugs are one of her steady sellers and she lists hers at 24.99. I list mine at 14.99 (with free shipping).

harley davidson mug

One thing for sure — they are interesting! And easy to find. Make sure you have something collectible though such as the ones I have shown here. Just any old mug like, “dad is awesome” or “Jane”, or a bunch of pretty flowers, probably won’t work.

There is a particular auction house that I go to every month where the auctioneer calls me the “fabric lady.” One time I was getting in line to leave early and he yelled over at me to stay because he was going to put up the “fabric items” just for me. He knows I always bid on them and since this auction has about 80% men that attend it, they are not inerested in the fabric items. I can get some great deals and I am always hoping for tablecloths and aprons — my favorite! This purple apron is made of all patchwork like a quilt.

vintage apron — designer fabric

This apron is probably also from the 60s or 70s but is very unusual. I am calling the fabric designer fabric because it is just so beautiful and unusual. I don’t know the origin of it but this apron is also handmade.

As to what these aprons are worth, I have priced them about 12-15$ in my eBay store. I have also put one of them on auction just to see if the price goes any higher than that. This is how I judge their worth in today’s market. Most of the price depends on the condtion and detail. My aunt owns an antique shop where she specializes in linens and she sells aprons for 15 – 20$.

Right now on eBay, the prices of completed auctions for a single apron range from 1.50 to 89.00.

the ungame, wilton cake molds and charlie brown

Here are a few of the items I found at the Goodwill store lately. What are they wrth? Could I sell them on eBay?

Yes, they are very “eBayable” items. Not worth a lot of money but considering the prices I paid at the Goodwill store, they are worth a shot!

The Ungame. I used to play this in the 1970s. It’s kind of fun. I’m sure there are others out there who remember this game fondly and would like to have it again! It sold recently for anywhere from $15-30.

Charlie Brown Books — This is a good one. The Peanuts characters are always popular. The prices range greatly though, depending on the age and condition of the book. A signed copy recently went for $175.00. Most of the common books will sell for about 5.00 each. It is nice to be able to put a “lot” of them together and sell them that way. I often wait until I can find at least 5 of them and sell them together.

Wilton cake pan — This particular pan is a stand up bear — smaller in size than a regular cake mold. They sold recently between $12 and $28. That surprised me a little! (I am including the postage when I quote prices). I didn’t think this one would go for that much. A lot depends on rarity when it comes to cake pans. I once got over $30 for a cookie monster cake pan!

Wee Sing cassette and songbook — I bought this because it was only 25 cents. I remember using this in Sunday School in the 1980s and it is still in the original package. I found a set of 3 that sold on eBay for 13.00 so I can probably get a few $$ for this. I like the fact that someone else will actually need this and I found it for them!

So support your local Goodwill or thrift shop. You’ll be helping others as well as yourself!

I’ll be listing these items this week in my store at everythingvintagesteph.com

Thanks for stopping by!
