pineapple pattern doily

pineapple pattern doily

Hand crocheted doilies are fairly plentiful and easy to find. Such beautiful work! Someone took crochet thread and a very small crochet hook and made this beautiful doily in the pineapple pattern. Probably made in the 1940s or earlier.

Here’s a smaller one that was probably used on the arm of a sofa. I have 3 of these but they were probably made in a set of 4 or 6 or 8.

Here’s another one shown on the arm of the sofa. This one is not in the pineapple pattern. It’s sometimes called an antimacassar. Why? Actually, I just looked it up. “Macassar” is oil and anti means to prevent oil (from your arm) getting on the sofa. Now it makes sense!

This one shows the close up of the hand work. They come in so many patterns and sizes. You will find tablecloths and bedspreads as well, done with this crochet thread. I have some in my store everythingvintagesteph.com for a great price!
