flea market items

flea market items

I have a flea market that I regularly sell at every month. Having regular customers is a nice feature. Most of them comment “I always buy something from you!” “You have the most interesting stuff!” I generally sell my leftover eBay items at the flea market.

Sometimes when I go to local estate auctions, I buy boxes of junk just for the purpose of selling at the flea market. I always check first to see if it is good for eBay though! I sold everything in these boxes for 50 cents a piece — porcelain cats, vintage kitchenware, single salt shakers, etc.

vintage post cards

I have 100s of vintage post cards. I sell them on eBay for about 1.00 each and at the flea market for 50 cents each. Most of the other items you see in the photo are priced at 1.00 or 2.00.

vintage books and videos

Being a former teacher and librarian, I am always interested in books! I buy boxes of books from auctions and then sort through them for the “good” stuff to sell on eBay. The ones shown here are still really good but I sell them for 1.00 or 50 cents each.

I tried selling VHS tapes about 2 years ago for 1.00 each. No sales. When I dropped them to 50 cents each, I sold almost all of them so now I pick them up whenever I can for 1.00 a box lot or so and they are still selling at the flea market for 50 cents each!

modern and vintage scarves

I love scarves! Mainly because I can pick them up at the Goodwill clearance store for 79 cents a pound. It takes a couple of dozen scarves to even come close to a pound! Sometimes I find brand names I can list on eBay but mainly they come to the flea market for 50 cents each. I find some really beautiful ones too!

porcelain dolls

Porcelain dolls do not sell! I have these priced at 2.00 each and I have tried them at least 3 times at the flea market. Time to donate!

vintage jewelry

Vintage jewelry is the backbone of the flea market business! It takes up very little space and it always sells. Still, it has to be the right price. If it is something special with a designer name or especially beautiful work, I sell it on eBay or at an antique show. The rest comes to the flea market for mainly 50 cents and 1.00. It really adds up! I have regular customers that spend 20.00 just on jewelry. Sometimes they stand around and wait for me to set up just so they can look at the jewelry first.

These are some nicer pieces I had out at 5.00 each. Some of these might show up at everythingvintagesteph.com. OR visit me at the flea market in PA at merchantssquaremall.com!

Vintage doilies, baby blankets and vintage sheets. What are my vintage linens worth?

vintage doilies

vintage doilies

Vintage crocheted doilies are plentiful. However, some are more special than others. A popular design is the pineapple pattern. See how the design forms the shape of a pineapple? Their value depends mainly upon their condition and size. An average size doily of 12 inches or so can sell anywhere from 2-20$ each. Fancier colors, larger sizes, and fancier designs can sell for more.

set of 16 vintage doilies

I am selling a matching set of 16 on eBay this week (ending on August 20). It’s unusual to find so many matching pieces in beautiful condition! Check everythingvintagesteph.com to see what they are going for.

vintage baby blanket

Vintage baby blankets can also be popular. This one is from the 1950s or so. It is a heavy fabric that has a reversible design and the binding is sateen. It’s rare to find the binding intact and this one has some bleach marks on this side. However, one in excellent condition that is not faded can sell for over 100.00, especially if new in the box! This one is probably worth about 10.00 in it’s present condition ( a little faded and bleached with decent binding).

vintage bed sheets

Vintage sheets can also be a lot of fun! This set is probably from the 1960s or 70s. It has barely been used (if at all). Some people  just got sheets for wedding presents and put them away in a closet and never used them! I pick them up at local estate sales or even the thrift stores.

Style and manufacturer can be important to the value. CANNON makes a very good sheet as well as Laura Ashley, Sheridan, and Dan River. Character sheets can sell for over 100.00 each for such names as Snoopy, My Little Pony, Star Wars, and Disney. Even if they are not vintage, they can be good sellers on eBay. I check the thrift stores all the time for these!

Happy hunting and visit me at everythingvintagesteph.com to see what’s hot!
