Nancy Drew books have always been one of my favorites since I read every single one of them growing up! These are from my collection but I will be selling a few of them on eBay soon. The photo shows 3 different style covers.

The very first Nancy Drew book was The Secret of the Old Clock printed in 1930. If you find a copy with the dust jacket — you’ve got a winner! The most recent sale on eBay was for 32.00 but I have seen this 1st edition go for over 80.00 already. It always depends on condition!

In 1932, the Nancy Drew silhouette was added to the cover and end papers for the first 8 books. (the darker tweed looking version)

The second version of the silhouette came out in 1947.

The yellow hardcover version came out in 1962. These are more common and can still be found easily. These are the ones I read so many people collect these for the memories!

The end sheets are important to collectors so if you are selling these books, you need to include a photo of the end sheet. These are the same 3 books shown in the above photo and they all have different end sheets so they are different editions even though they are all the yellow covers.

Another popular children’s book series is the Little Golden Books. If you are picking these up at a yard sale or thrift store, the first place to look is the back cover. If there is a UPC code, it is not old. Then look at the front cover and note the original price. They first came out in 1942 and cost 25 cents. If you found one of those — score! In 1968 they were 39 cents, in 1977 59 cents, etc. Today they cost 2.99 each. The Disney versions are popular and they started in 1944.

Eloise Wilkin

Many people collect them by the artist. My favorite is Eloise Wilkin with her beautiful illustrations of angel-looking children. Richard Scarry began his career with Little Golden Books. Garth Williams is also popular (illustrator of the Little House on the Prairie books).

Dr. Seuss and vintage text books

That’s enough for now! I think I will write about Dr. Seuss and vintage text books next time (maybe next week).

Some of the above books are for sale on eBay at everythingvintagesteph.com. plus others!

Who doesn’t love cookbooks! I have a great collection in my kitchen. Some of them are vintage —they are the most interesting! I just listed this mushroom one on eBay a few days ago. It’s very cool!

vintage tapestry purse

vintage tapestry purse

I love the look of this purse! I am seriously considering a collection of this style of purse. It has the look of needlepoint but I think it is a tapestry fabric because I can’t actually see the needlepoint in it. It is beautiful though with the rose pattern and it is also a great size! It’s like a carpetbag that stands alone when opened up. The shoulder strap can be removed. I have this purse listed at 49.99 in my store at everythingvintagesteph.com. I think that is the price it is worth but I also have added a “make an offer” button to this one.

vintage straw woven purse

This purse is probably from the 1970s. I remember having this style and liked it a lot! They open like a wide mouth fish and stand alone. Also nice to carry. I have this one listed at 29.99 in my eBay store. The worth is dependent on the condition and quality. The best ones use leather and brass trim. This one has a cute butterfly for a clasp!

vintage clutch purses

Clutch purses are great too. They are very popular to use as an evening bag for a wedding or similar event. I just sold one this weekend at a flea market. The customer said she was looking for a black clutch purse with a bow for a wedding and I had just the thing she came for!  These do not have a manufacturer name so they are a little less expensive at about 10-15$ a piece. A designer name would increase the value.

Mad Men style vintage purse 1950s

Mad Men style from the 1950s is very popular right now! This purse fits the style and is from the 1950s. I have it listed at 25.00 with a “make an offer” option. It would be worth more if it were leather but I think it is faux leather. It has nice brass trim and is clean inside with no tears. Great condition always adds to the value.

metallic gold vintage purse

Here’s a fun purse for anyone! The fabric is metallic gold and the clasp is a flower with little rhinestones in it. It is listed at 19.00 with a best offer option. I don’t have any Whiting and Davis purses at this time but that is a really great name for vintage purses!

You can see more close up pictures and descriptions of all the purses at everythingvintagesteph.com as long as they last! Thanks for stopping by!
